There are many roof tents to choose from. Koala Creek what really sets a Koala Creek apart? Here’s a rundown of the key design features.

Why our Koala Creek are a smart choice

You don’t roof top tent a roof top tent just for a single weekend—you choose it for years of travel, short trips, and long evenings in special places. That’s exactly why the details make all the difference. We design our Koala Creek based on real-world experience: what do you really need on the road? In this blog, we’d like to explain why we believe our rooftop tents are an excellent choice.

Built for heavy-duty use

What drives us is build quality that lasts for years. Not a showroom product, but a tent that we ourselves would confidently take on a trip—through rain, wind, snow, and dust. That’s why we deliberately choose components that we can still rely on even after thousands of miles.

Tall stainless steel hinges: strong and practical

Take our tall stainless steel hinges, for example. They’re not only sturdy, but also a deliberate choice. Stainless steel doesn’t rust, even after years of use in rain, snow, or coastal areas. The extra height of the hinges also allows the tent to open wider. This provides more interior space and makes it possible to leave your belongings inside the tent when packing it up.

This is a major advantage with our softcover , such as the Eiger . Whether it’s your sleeping bag, pillows, or a thin blanket, you can simply leave them where they are. You’ll have less packing to do in the morning and can get back on the road faster. Especially during road trips or short stops, this saves time and frustration every day—something we hear from our customers all the time.

Comfort you’ll feel every night

A good night's sleep sets the tone for your day of travel. We keep that in mind with every design decision we make.

6 cm mattress and insulated aluminum base

As standard, we equip our roof tents with a 6-cm-thick mattress made of SG33 foam. That may sound like a minor detail, but in practice, the difference is huge. While thinner mattresses often cause pressure points on the shoulders and hips, our mattress provides ample support, even for side sleepers.

Many of our tents feature a honeycomb aluminum floor. Aluminum is lightweight and strong, but can feel cold. The honeycomb structure traps air, providing excellent insulation. This keeps the cold out and makes the floor feel more comfortable, even in the early and late seasons. Less condensation, less cold, and more comfort while sleeping.

Smart design, greater stability

25 mm rods for all weather conditions

We deliberately choose 25 mm poles instead of the commonly used 16 mm ones. The difference may seem small, but you’ll notice it right away in windy conditions. Our thicker poles ensure a more stable tent structure. The tent flaps less and feels sturdier, especially in open areas or by the sea.

If you’re camping in a windy spot in Scandinavia or along the Atlantic coast, you don’t want to be kept awake by flapping fabric and rattling poles. The sturdier construction of our roof tents ensures a peaceful night’s sleep—and that’s exactly why we’ve made this choice.

Dark coating for long nights

One detail that is often overlooked, but which we have deliberately included: a special dark coating on the inside of the tent. This coating keeps light out—ideal in countries where it’s already light out at four in the morning during the summer.

The result? You sleep longer and don’t wake up at the first rays of sunlight. This is a surprisingly big plus, especially for families or travelers who have long days. A small detail that makes a big difference.

Pre-installed mounting rails and a smart storage system

Faster installation, less hassle

No one wants to deal with complicated installation. That’s why we supply many of our rooftop tents with pre-installed mounting rails. This makes setting up your roof top tent easier and faster.

We also deliver our rooftop tents on a dolly, making it easy to move and store them after use. No need to lift a heavy tent—just roll it from A to B. Because a roof top tent exactly small, so you deserve a well-thought-out solution.

Softcover hardcover: which one is right for you?

Both models share our quality features: the mattress, the aluminum base, the stainless steel hinges, and the sturdy construction. The difference lies in their intended use and appearance.

Our softcover : flexible and ideal for road trips

Our softcover , such as the Teide , combine space with flexibility. Thanks to the high hinges, you can leave your belongings inside the tent even when closing it. This makes these tents ideal for travelers who frequently change locations.

In addition, our soft-top models are often slightly lighter, which is convenient during installation and for vehicles with a lower roof weight limit. If you’re looking for a good balance between comfort, weight, and ease of use, we highly recommend these. Want to know which roof top tent is compatible roof top tent your vehicle?
